An observation on music

October 28, 2008

As of recently i have been listening to music like the incredible acts that are Borknagar, Nile and Belakor for no other reason than they seemed appealing at the time. (Also due to the fact they are incredible)

And yet i was thinking of some older material i listened to, some older COB (children of bodom) that is truely amazing, and would have to be in my top 10 albums as so far.  And this is of course the 1999 album ‘Tokyo Warhearts’ in it’s live form.

As the Japanese crowd chants with apprehension of what is to come, the intro begins.  Sounding unique and somehow to me Japanese in itself, the intro then breaks into ‘Silent Night, Bodom Night’ with Alexi (i gather) bellowing to the crowd “Alright Tokyo!”, and every time Alexi yells this and the rapid succession of the druming begins i still get tingles.

Followed by more greats such as ‘Lake Bodom’and ‘Warheart’ the exceptional track ‘Bed of Razors’ begins with an intro one would never forget.  Again Children of Bodom deliver their skills with this track, with oustanding riffs and epic keyboard skills.  Although it is the track ‘War of Razors’ where the battle of the Guitar and and Keyboard takes place that takes the breath away.  This duel inspires me to want to learn keyboard or just an instrument in general as it forvever amazes me.

‘Deadnight Warrior’ from their first and disputedly their best album ‘Something Wild’ is of course amazing as is ‘Touch like Angel of Death’ which seems to be most people’s favourite track.  But my favourite track on the album and maybe their best of all is ‘downfall’.  And incredible intro followed by awesome lyrics and almost a spiritual approach to those worthy enough to listen, should be almost forced upon the human race to listen.

‘Towards Dead End’ concludes what is a truely amazing album and something i will always keep and i believe will probably always stay in my top 10 albums of all time.  If you have not heard “Tokyo Warhearts” then i highly encourage you run and buy it, you wont regret it.
